Thinking of an iMAC

So I am moving to CA end of July/early Aug. I plan on getting the iPhone 4 right when I move.
I also want a new computer. I am on an IBM laptop now that should be updated. I am going to reformat it and keep it simple, as a school computer.
So I want a desktop for all-things-home.

Looking at the new iMacs, they seem pretty cool. I have NEVER owned an Apple product aside from the first gen iPhone and an iPod.
The basic iMac seems to have good stats - 3.06ghz processor, 500gb HDD, 4gm RAM, etc for $1100 or so.

Any advice, tips, thoughts?

cheers

^ Go find a 13 yr. old, they'll show you how to use it.

I may finally break down and do the switch soon, myself. I have a 5 yr. old Sony Vaio laptop that has seen better days.

I've had my iMac for about 2 years, and I love it. It is the perfect desktop computer because you only have a power cord, and I would definitely recommend it. It will last forever and is perfect for photos/movies/music/internet.

What do you guys think about the Mac Mini as an alternative? Seems like a versatile little machine. Hook it to the Sharp Aquos in the livingroom for movies. With upgraded processor/ram it's $949, leaving a little money for an LCD monitor, and wireless mouse/keyboard.

Pros? Cons?
