+1 I'm with the BS crowd.

How could it be? I see no good reason a prototype who be just carried along in a bar just for fun. The damn things must be in a bombproof shelter and protected not by bears with rockets but flying sharks with laser beams. And somehow some guy takes it with him for "field testing"? And forgets about it? Come on.

Option #1 : Apple put it out there to create some buzz and/or gauge reactions
Option #2 : Apple employee was offered a significant sum of money (worth his job) to "lose" the device.

And anyhow, how can the guys at Gizmodo see their stunt as a good thing? I'm pretty sure they're officially persona non grata at anything Apple for a couple million years!

I like the design and features. I'm undecided on all the controversy around the story. Smells a lot like a marketing effort by Apple, although it would be quite unorthodox for them.

 

Why would they let the new design out of office?

They only need to test the software, which can be put into the old design?

 

The phone in my pocket has a sim card and I'm on VZW.

Why the f would you want an iPhone when VZW is getting the Incredible in a little over a week?

i like the new look, i dunno if its a marketing scheme or if he really lost the phone or it got stole but i don't care as long as we know what it looks like, and i would have personally tried harder to give the phone back to apple asking for a large cash reward

I want the real deal. The way the iphone flows, from the apps, to texting, to emails to phone a call. I just like it better.

My Droid Eris has been a 'good' phone. Not fantastic. - "Its NO iphone." lol

 

i call bs... this is perfect timing to get the spotlight back on Apple. Everyone is talking about the VZW Incredible and the EVO 4G on Sprint. Apple couldn't stay quiet for much longer, since like it or not they know alot of people who own a 3gs are being tempted by the newer powerhouses that are running Android.

The badass hardware specs of both handsets, combined with the shit service from ATT is enough to get 3gs owners to possibly look elsewhere. Apple had to give iphone owners a taste, if only to keep them from jumping ship.

I'm guessing it worked.
