OK, you can but with limitations, i.e. in my experience, song ratings will not be imported

I still think Home Sharing is the least fuss (most legitimate) alternative.

Sorry for upsetting anyone.

A Mac won't recognise a Windows iTunes folder and vice versa.

The easiest way to do it is by using Home Sharing. Just set up your Mac to import the whole library from your PC.

Of course they won't, the metadata is stored in the iTunes database, not the song files. If you copy the song files and the database, all data is retained regardless of OS.
