Matte: When you are really anal about color proofing
Glossy: For everything else

New computer eh? Welfare check comes in early this month . . .

I have glossy and it is nice as long as you are not outside/have the screen facing a window.

I agree with the others. Only other bad thing about glossy is the tendency to show dust and finger prints.

Glossy for the Air there is no option. I had Glossy on my 15" pro also

I'm going to have to disagree with the others. Glossy is incredibly distracting in natural light. I went from a matte laptop to glossy, then back again.

BUT as JOX said I am very particular when it comes to color quality, due to the amount of MAD TYTE 'SHOPS I do day-to-day.

If it were a stationary monitor glossy would be okay, because you could adjust the position to work with the lights around it.
