I'm probably the only one here who has this obsession, but I love spending hours customizing my mac Not in terms of capabilities, but in appearance, mods, etc.



I spent 5 hours doing this all last night while watching old Top Gear episodes lol. If you guys have any questions about the stuff on my desktop, feel free to ask

Notice how Finder is closed! Super Secret way of doing that ;P when i close finder, it hides everything on my desktop (macHD icon, files, folders, etc.) and I can just start it up again and they reappear!

The top right is the current song playing in itunes, it shows the album cover and scrolls the name + info of the song every time it changes.

Here are some past major changes (i tend to change it every 2 weeks or so, it's a bad habbit haha)

Those are pretty awesome setups. How do you get the ichat window or the like to become transparent? Same for the top bar?

it's not ichat, it's a program called Adium (10x better) that has a whole website dedicated to customizing it, adiumxtras.com, but the transparency is built in to the preferences.

the top bar (menu bar) you can make transparent in your system prefs, no magic there

Ahh, the art of skinning. The first step to a good ol' fashion there's-no-going-back-from-here-because-you're-screwed computer crash.

 

Nice, just dl'd adium and am impressed so far. Was using msn and aim separately before, so it's nice to have them together in one place.

Are there any tutorials or write-ups on customizing the launch bar?
