How do I convert an MP4 to MP3?

I import all my CD's into iTunes as Apple Lossless but the files are large of course.

I need to convert a few songs to MP3 but can't easily figure it out and don't want to go thru the cd's again.

Tia for reading!

It has been a while since I did this, so I can remember exactly what I did. However, this link might help

Convert DRM protected AAC or M4A to MP3

If you're importing CDs, there is no DRM. That's only embedded in music purchased from the iTunes Music Store before they yanked the DRM.

You can convert mp4 to mp3 via just about any audio software, including quicktime. Just drag the file from your iTunes playlist to quicktime, and export it however you like.

You can also do it in Itunes. Just switch your import format to the style you want, then select all your songs, and go to Advanced:Create MP3 Version. Then, once its all done, select by date, and delete all the old music, while keeping the new stuff.
