Just ordered pair of etymotics HF2 for Iphone

Ordered the HF2 based on the reviews. They seem to be decently priced and offer great performance. One of the main reasons why I bought the HF2's is for the noise isolation, I need something to protect my ears when I'm out riding. Wind noise/Loud exhaust is recipe for deafness, so I'm hoping the ear phones will help prevent that.

Anyone have real life experience with these?

I have the other Etymotics and I found them fantastic for riding. There are two earpieces, one is a foamy earplug basically and isolates damn near as well as regular foamy earplugs. The other is the one pictured, which isolate maybe -15 or 20db. It's enough. And the rubber is much easier to clean.

The issue I ran into was the thin wires frayed. I went through two sets before I just gave in and bought some cheap JVC Marshmallows.

Eventually one ear will stop working--it's the filters getting clogged. You have to replace them when this happens.

Will Etymotics replace the ear phones if the wires end up getting frayed?

Wow, those look like some seriously wicked headphones. I think the problem sean described will happen with just about any in-ear headphone design.

They replaced one set I had when the jack got messed. The 2nd pair that went I just said "f-it" and got something more sturdy. Mind you it was probably over a year of riding like an psychopath (trackdays & supermoto included) before it went out.
