Macbook Pro running out of memory with VMWare Fusion

I've been using VMWare Fusion to load Windows XP for about 2 years now on my Macbook Pro, but recently it's been thrashing the hard drive constantly when I load it up. Everything is noticeably slower, but as far as I can tell, no other apps are consuming any memory.

It's a 2.33Ghz machine with 2GB of RAM, and I allocated 1024MB of memory to the VMWare instance. It used to run fine, so I'm wondering if perhaps the Windows installation has just degraded over time, or if something else might be up.

Any opinions/input?

What version of OS X? I've heard snow leopard has a few issues with older versions of VMWare.

If that's no the case, chances are the doze install is messed up.

I have Tiger, actually. Never saw any reason to upgrade this machine.

I'll probably just deal with it for now, then install a new version of windows when I have the time. I only need it to test IE 6 (seriously, why do people still use this), and run Quickbooks.

Sounds like it's a doze install issue, then.

I think we're FINALLY on the tail end of IE6. It's dropping under 10%, and mostly due to AOL users.
