Two questions- sharing documents among accounts and is disk defrag necessary?

I have my MB set up with multiple users, each of which represents either my personal entity or a business of mine. This makes email simpler and lets me tailor the computer based on what my needs are. For now, if I want to share a file, I either upload it to iDisk or I save it on a memory stick and download it under the different user. Is there a way to mark certain documents and settings as "shared" such that they'll be visible under all accounts?

Second question. On a windows computer, you periodically need to scan disk to get rid of partial files or corrupted files and you have to run disk defragmenter for programs that are scattered in pieces on the drive. Is there a need to do this on the Mac? If so, how?

Thanks.

Several ways of doing so. The easiest is to just stick whatever files you want to transfer into the Drop Box folder of the user you want to send it to. /Users/whichever/Public/Drop Box. You can write, but not read, whatever files you want.

Another option is to create a global "shared" directory somewhere with read/write permissions for everyone. You need to make it outside of a given user tree, e.g. something like /Users/Shared, for example. Then get info on the folder, and change the permissions to read and write for everyone.

OS X uses a journaled file system. So, no, you don't have to defragment. You need to do so on windows machines as the file systems used are much less robust.
