Or buy an HD TV and hook it up using DVI to HDMI cables, works great

And I do agree if they are selling a product they should back it up, but thats the world we live in.

I know... I was just using the forum to vent a bit.

I have been a avid apple backer for a long time. I believe in their OS, which is the primary reason I back their products, and pay the premium to buy the hardware. I was just peeved about certain things lately, was just venting.

Just return everything if you aren't satisfied. I hope they have reasonable return policy. Next time verify everything in the store or copy store's setup to be sure.

Lack of competition and scale of economy drives the prices waaay up. This is why I stay light on accessories on my iphone, ipod... PC stuff is standard and waaay cheaper and accessible.

You can have a nice LCD for the price of an Apple display. I just don't understand why anyone would buy a 30" Cinema, except for the bling factor.

Some people need that much screen real estate for video editing, graphics work, etc. Though I personally find two 23's is plenty.

If they don't want me hooking up a 30" apple cinema display to my macbook Pro, they should tell the consumer the two aren't compatible anymore, and I wouldn't have upgraded to the new MBP.
Apple has freely licensed the displayport spec to anyone who wants it. If it bothers you that much, wait a few months for Belkin, et al, to bring out their own cables.

Personally, I bought the 30" cinema display along with my first mac pro a couple of years ago. As I do work with Maya, PS, AI, and a bunch of other programs, I use the screen real estate to its max.

Suffice to say, I got the adapter to work properly last night when I started to unplug certain cables, that I thought might be causing issues. In this case, I have no idea why... but the USB cable that goes from the monitor to the adapter (if you have a 30" you'll know what im talking about), was causing the issue. I unplugged it, and I finally got a nice, clean image at the correct resolution.

Anyways, thanks for listening to me rant. I had to let go of some of my frustration...

A little thread jacking, but I'm on a trip two weeks ago and the POS Mag Safe power cord basically falls apart where it attaches to the computer (it is by no means new). I go to the local apple store show them it and they actually gave me a brand new one...go figure.
