Apple has lost me...

Well, my torrid love affair has finally come to an end. It was good for a while, but the last two weeks have been hell, and i am done turning a blind eye to there BS tactics when it comes to cables, and making the consumer conform to changes they deem necessary.

It took a BS $100 dollar cable they made me purchase in order for my APPLE 30" cinema display to work properly with my brand new APPLE 15" macbook Pro. It wasn't only the cable, because im not a person who really bitches about prices... it was the fact that I stated to the APPLE store clearly that I was purchasing this BS adapter for the sole purpose of attaching my 30" cinema display, and they sold me the regular miniDsiplay port to Dvi cable... went home plugged it in, and only got half the resolution on my monitor

Go back, and now have to purchase a $100 cable in order for my monitor to work properly. It's bullshit, but oh well... if it works, fine. I'll live with price. Get home, plug it in... no image. WTF!!!! This is very simple guys, its a freakin monitor. My old MBP handled this correctly, with no adapter needed... but with these new MBP's, apple decided they wanted to make more money off of me. Like is said, thats fine, but at least have it be a working product.

I am pissed beyond belief right now. I never bitch about these things. But Cmon man, this is rediculous, and I reall am stick to my stomach about the way Apple has gone about this.

P.S. I call apple support, they tell me that the cable doesn't function well with monitors made by other manufacturers. I told the doucher that I am using their FLAGSHIP monitor... all he can say is sorry, and the cable should be returned. MFERS!

/end rant

If you'll stick that 30" Cinema Display out on your front porch I'll be by shortly to snag it.

Fortunately for me, there's a bunch of people out there that will take all of this hardware off of my hands. Good for them... I can't stand it anymore.

I think due to decent overwhelming demand at the stores they filled positions with anyone they could, lets just say that my last experience wa snot a pleasent one.

I too am not one to bitch about money, but when you are spending you should be treated as a customer, period.

It's also the fact that apple knows that these miniDisplay port to dual-link DVI adapters are no good, yet they are selling them to us with a straight face. And for a 100 dollars ... it's retarded.

Issues aside, I have a hard time understanding why anyone would want to drive a massive display from a laptop to begin with.

That being said-- the Apple retail stores are pretty much the gold standard for retail computer sales, though in all honesty that isn't really saying a whole lot. If you want a better level of service, take your business to a VAR.

Apple lost me when they sold me my 8gig, generation 2 (or 3?) ipod Nano...

its perfect, does everything i want it to do and not a single thing more... its been bullet proof, battery still lasts 2 weeks of gym work outs, pretty sure I'll never buy another.

Many laptop users do not have a desktop at home, and use the laptop as their primary, and only computer. The Macbook Pro is supposed to be top of the line, and the last time I checked they always have made it easy/compatible to hook up THEIR freakin monitor to one of THEIR laptops.

The excuse you give for this, is that people shouldn't be hooking up their monitor to their laptop. Give me a break Simba, your a bright guy, and you know its BS from apple . They sell a $100 dollar cable, at least back it up with good support, and actually have it working when they release the damn thing. If they don't want me hooking up a 30" apple cinema display to my macbook Pro, they should tell the consumer the two aren't compatible anymore, and I wouldn't have upgraded to the new MBP.

/end rant again

I hate cables... I'm trying to use the optic audio output on my Powerbook G4 to connect to my iPod Boombox, but apparently you need a toslink cable with a mini plug at the end. Apparently (again), you'd need a toslink mini cable for all sorts of laptop macs to use the optical audio output and they're really hard to get ahold of. I've been waiting for one to arrive to the local apple center and they'll just get 2-3. I'm guessing they'll cost about 5million dollars a piece as well...
