Bye bye Steve Jobs...

It is crazy how closely tied with Apples perceived success or demise Steve Jobs is.
Sure it is his baby, but man, they would have to have some of the best minds and designers working for them. Apple aint going nowhere. Least this gives his successor an opportunity to run the company with Steves supervision.

I certainly wouldn't be a buyer at 80 right now, but it will be interesting to watch. Of course I said I wasn't a buyer at 120, 150, and 180 either. But I love the company and am faithful to its products.

I would agree in general, but I have read several reasoned and well-researched articles in Forbes, Fortune, The Wall Street Journal and elsewhere over the past couple of years detailing why they thought Apple was a much less valuable company without Steve; possibly more reliant on its leader for shareholder value than any other publicly traded company. My guess is that much of what makes Apple unique; particularly on the design side and in its ability to lead rather than follow, is tied closely to the one ego-maniac at the top.

If he dropped dead, they wouldn't stop making appealing products.
