Is the Pro worth the extra cash?

I am planning on picking up an Apple notebook within the month. Considering the cost differences, it seems like loading the 13-inch macbook with options like the larger HD, faster CPU, and 4 gig memory is the way to go. Obviously, the larger screen would be nice, but the smaller form factor of the 13 inch is nice as well.

If both the Pro (15 or 17) and 13-inch notebooks are optioned out similarly, are there any advantages to going with the pro? Am i missing anything here? It seems like a large price hike for the larger screen.

I'd probably go for the 15 inch pro, 17 inch is way to big, uncomfortable to work with on your lap.

The only difference would be that one can't get firewire on the Macbook.

There are other advantages for the Pro including better graphics capability. This matter for some people very much.

I have the MBP from last year, MacBook Black and now the Macbook new one..

I prefer the 13" new MacBook for internet and travel..I would love a new MBP but really don't need it as I use a MacPro tower for serious graphic work.

Also, if you get the MacBook, the one with the backlit keyboard is really nice but $300 more...

All the basic stuff--internet/email/office stuff/ basic photo and video editing/media. I am no graphic designer so I do not think I need the "best of the best" graphics-wise, but it should be able to handle the aforementioned activities without breaking too much of a sweat.

If you need the MBP-specific features, like Firewire or the ExpressCard, it's really the only option. Else, the Macbook will do just about everything as well as the MBP.

I need a pro, myself, as I need just about all of its features, but the casual user generally won't.

I debated the MB vs MBP for quite awhile, but settled on the MB due to it's size and portability. Hands down the best laptop I have ever had. I, too, high;y recommend the backlit keyboard. It makes working on a plane that much easier.

100% agree..I bought it without the backlit keyboard and was lucky enough to get apple to take it back to exchange without a restocking fee.

I have owned many laptops and this is the best by far..I love the size for travel and internet..

Did you put exta ram in Alin? I haven't had a chance..

I do have a weird problem of links not opening when I click on them in threads...can't figure that one out yet..
