Meant to say "wont lease" a used vehicle. Of course they would finance one.

Got a quote from a dealer on a new 2012 C2S Cab in PDK which stickered at 132k for 2100/mo for 24 months at 5k/yr. My NYS taxes and fees in the payment incl BF. Same car in 2013 MY would be 2300/mo. Waiting til Sep/Oct to see if Porsche comes out with a aggressive lease program on their sport cars (991) as they have in the past.

Just doing rough math...isn't that around $5.04/mile when you shake it down? Just go rent a Lamborghini for the weekend a couple times a month.

Wow for that much you would be nuts to lease instead of buy. Unless you have an absolute time limit of 2-3 years, finance it for a few years longer and have lower monthly payments and own the thing.

Maybe they're enthusiasts?

A number of smaller banks and companies write used car leases. In fact it makes a ton on sense to use a lease to offset sales tax in places like California if you are not sure that you are going to be holding onto the car longer then say three years.

You treat the lease like a balloon payment. Yes you pay a bit more ~3-4K per 100K or so. But if you decide to sell the vehicle under the break even point due to taxes you can save a bit of cash.

If you do a solid down payment as well you can avoid a good bit of the money factor as well.

Its what I am doing on the car I hope to pickup this weekend.

Correct in most cases, you wouldn't want to lease used anyway as the residuals would blow

Agree with that. I use leases as a business write off, but also I dont keep them very long. I usually get out of my cars at 8 to 18 months and when I trade it back in I am usually only negative by a few grand. But if I financed instead then I lose the extra 15k in CA taxes on top of the negative equity.
So for some (like me) it makes more sense to lease.
Either way we are losing money on these cars, but its a price I am willing to pay. Thats why I work hard to make the money.
