I hide mine systematically.
Not for privacy purposes, but law enforcement.
I(we) do illegal things in our cars (bike in my case) on a very regular basis. Having formal vehicle identification readily available sounds less than ideal to me.
Bottom line, easier to say "wasn't my vehicle, wasn't me".
