There are a couple of guys who put napkins over their tags at local meets. And I've been asked by a few people to blur or white out their tags in my photos. But I think they assume I'm shooting for a publication, rather than for myself.
Edit: if people request, I'll always blur or make up a silly tag.

I was a bit worried about posting a video with a license plate shown on YouTube but I didn't cover it because: 1) I didn't think it mattered because everyone sees it when they drive on the road and 2) I didn't know how on video. Haha

Exactly. I suppose one persons security is another's joke.

If you're out at a public event, can you really expect that everyone with a camera is going to smudge your tags? It's impossible. If you really are concerned, take them off or cover them.
