Rear end 'eye brows' ??
What ... and why ... are there these little red sliver reflectors on the lower rear of the new 991?
I see them on some Mazdas. Is this some Euro required crap or what? Reflectors? I don't have them on my 997 Turbo.
BTW, I find the entire back end of the 991 uninspiring ... the front is pretty vanilla, too. Sorta all smooth and not all that aggressive? I'll need to see one in the flesh.
I may still rent one until the Turbo comes out, tho.

I remember American vehicles in the 80's (?) ... they all looked like boxes with windows. None were 'aggressive' either. Or, distinctive. They all looked bland. Nothing like the 50s/60s/70s. When you could see one coming or going and know which car it was. Those days are .... gone?
Regulations? Pedestrian crumple zones ... hood configurations ... height standards? Just run them over. They're Europeans. Who walks out in front of a car anyway? %&#! Idiots.
Porsche did not ask me about the front end of their cars ... but, BIG intakes and aggressive (dare I say 'masculine') are on my plate. Nothing radical, but not this bubble look that's all smooth and such. Just my opinion .. not worth much.
The rear end has this 'after thought out' wing deal. What's up with this? Did they forget that the car needed an extendable wing and just stuck this on it? Looks uncompleted to me. And, the derriere just looks like a BIG bubble, too.
I'll have to see this car in person.
I had a 2003 M5 ... yeah, a bit builder's egg shell under the radar I admit ... but, when the V10 with 500 ponies came out with the paddle shifters, and the iPod-something-or-other .... I spent many hours trying to "like" the car. In the end, I could not. For more reasons than just the look of the car. Went back to Porsche.
I'm sure I'll get one of the 911's, tho. Still couple months before I can see one in the 'flesh'.
Still ..........

Yeah ... I still dislike the 996 a great deal. Tho't Porsche flubbed the design.
I have a 993 C4S that I think is prolly the best looking of all the 911s ... but, the 996 was just a blank in the evolution.
Porsche did sell a crap load of those 996 cars, tho. But, not to me.
When the 997 busted out on the scene ... I did get me one of those. C4S 997. Wonderful car. Didn't do well in even a smiggin' of snow, tho. I do love my Turbo.
(sigh ... )
I'll have to see and drive the new 991. I'm sure I'll have one in my garage. I have plenty of room for the extra length. BTW ... the front looks greater than that of the 997.
Look at the 2012 Camaro ZL1 Camaro's front over hang. Looks like the old BMWs. What's the deal with the 991? No motor issues, no suspension issues ... just drop it more so I can keep from draggin' my air dam on the pavement.

I agree.
Quintessential Porsche car, I've got like 34K miles on the car. Don't drive it as much as I would like since I got the 997 C4S and now, the Turbo. Fun factor, I guess.
Still ... the 993s are the last of the air cooled cars. They were criticized for bowing to the 'softer American feel', but ... the style of the car is just dazzling. I really love the look, size and feel of the car. I need a sport shifter.
Just beautiful.
