the sports seat plus and adaptive do have the wings. if you have the seat with the wings, you can have an upholstry shop modify it to fit.
Possible solution from me (a "stealer") who really has no horse in the race. I had several clients with 993's, 986's who were smaller than me. I'm 6'3, 220. Sent them to a local (very cheap) upholster who puled the leather and literally shaved the foam in the seats to the clients comfort level. Figured the now excess leather would bunch up and look bad. Never did.

Just a thought. Remember guys you have several TS members who sell Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini etc. Most seem to know their stuff and have very long term clients. Personally I am not a liar, a stealer and am not after the quick buck.I earn clients by making them happy and without question knowing my product. Next time go talk to your local PCA members ask for recommended SALES PRO, not dealership and then go talk to the recommended.

a bit ironic that they would call them comfort seats if they are uncomfortable

+1. That comment was fvcking stupid.

However, you cannot expect a dealer to hold your hand. Most do not know everything especially if they're working more than one brand, and with the 15,000 997 variants (there were slightly less when I worked for Porsche but it was still a lot at times) keeping track of all of the options is impossible, much less when you add in the Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne, Panamera and so on If you're LEASING an 85k car (I have an idea what that'll run - I worked for Porsche then go out of the auto business all together) you should know what's available. This is really easy to do a variety of ways, starting with the configurator on Porsche NA's website. In addition to that, you can request an order guide which will tell what's available. I have seen people who order Camrys do this, so it's fairly common knowledge.

Alas, ordering a Porsche is not ordering a Camry. On one hand you should expect more from the dealer, on the other hand you should expect more from yourself in terms of product knowledge when you are laying out that kind of money - ultimately quite a bit of the onus falls on you to know what you're ordering.

Really guys? It seems like everyone is blaming the OP for not knowing every option which is bullshit! Let's for a second say it was neither the dealer nor the OPs fault. The dealer should at least try to make the OP happy by letting him pay the difference on the seats. I'm sure the OP wouldn't mind paying the difference and maybe even labor costs instead of ohh, you don't like the seats on your brand new $85k car well you're SOA unless you bend over and give us $10k. Unless the dealership doesn't like repeat business.

The cost differencial is not a cheap one. But based on your suggestion of not assinging blame youre suggesting the dealer eat the difference. You know how often people seek used seats for a 997? Rarely. The dealer wont recoup the $ for the seats. Im with B on this one.

Is it really that unreasonable? I know I certainly hold myself to a higher standard, let alone when I would be spending that kind of money. And it's not "every kind of option", and pretending that's the statement here is, as you say, "bullshit!". It's seating choices. Honestly Porsche makes three seats. Is it really hard to know which ones are available, for either party?

He ordered the car. Why is it "bend over and give us $10k"? Fvcking a, talk about entitlement. What if he ordered the wrong color? Should he take delivery and then ask them to repaint it? If the car is wrong, don't take delivery!

Seriously that is one of the most asinine arguments I've ever heard. Reading "unless the dealership doesn't like repeat business" makes me sick. You are the kind of customer I would fire. Absolutely not worth the headache.
