Christmas shopping. 997turbo vs 991 S

i'm planning on getting a new car this winter. was originally set on a 997 turbo i spotted at a nearby roslyn porsche dealership here in long island. but with the upcoming 991 S coming out in early 2012, not really sure now, is the 7 speed manual somehow better than the 6 speed in the 997 turbo? thoughts?

Without a doubt I'd go for the turbo. The 997 is one of the best styled Porsche's to date IMO. 7 speed would be too busy and wouldn't be practical if it's your DD. And with this being the first year of the 991, you never know what issues may arise. My vote is for the turbo all day.

I know I'll be in the minority here, but I would pick the 991 S.

I loved my 997 S (although I did supercharge it for more power).

I like the new interior, and I'm a 2WD guy all the way. And I think the new 7-spd sounds great.

Without anyone having first hand knowledge of the 991, no one can say. 7th gear is only another overdrive gear for better fuel efficiency.
While I'm sure the driving dynamics of the 991 will be spectacular, I'll still keep my .1 TT.

wait, you actually had room to fit a supercharger back there? lol this might open me up to new possibilities in the future.

i have a bmw for my DD, but if i end up enjoying the 911 that much i might just make it my DD,

i also like the current 997 styling, it feels very proper. with the 991, although i do like the new rear end, and the fact that the backseat can seat 2 people. the front's more roundish styling just doesn't do it for me.

I am waiting for the 991 Turbo which I think comes out in late 2013 or early 2014. Not in a big hurry. But I would get the 991 S due to it's the next Generation and the 997 could probably depreciate a little faster in a couple years

So many ballers joining the site lately it's hard to keep up. What BMW are you moving up from?

Good luck on your search for the perfect automobile.
