Teamspeed IAA 2011: Porsche Shows the New 911
#57
Just got back from Frankfurt, what an amazing show. Alright here are my impressions of the 911. It is a big car. Last time I felt that size difference is when I looked at a 993 next to a 997. One gets the same feeling when comparing a 991 to a 997. The interior does not feel that big. I was told that out of the 10 additional cms only 2.5 cms were used to add additional space between the front and the rear seats.
I sat inside and it felt like a different car. I had to remind myself that this was a 911 and not a Panamera. Certainly not a good thing. God I miss the handbrake already now replace by a button!!
The buttons felt cheap, yes disappointing. I kept telling myself the 997 has a nicer interior.
The car on display at the Exclusive lounge was really nice. In person the ducktail looks much nicer than in the pictures and helps in reducing the feel of the huge rear the car now has. It blends in perfectly.
Overall, it stopped looking like a raw sports car and moved into the GT segment. I wonder how a "stripped" RS will look with all these buttons.
I will post some pictures, I took around 1000 in one day!
