993 is my favorite generation overall but design wise I like the 997 the best. Such clean lines. Absolute perfection. The front end of the 991 does absolutely nothing for me. I also don't like the tacky fog light assembly. I wish they would have incorporated the LED running lamps and fog lights into the headlight assembly itself. They'll come out with a GT3 in a couple years and all complaints I have will magically disappear. Can't wait to see it in person.

One thing I love about the 997 is that there are no unnecessary design lines. Just the timelessly sculpted panels necessary to cover the chassis. Nothing more and nothing less. It's so refreshing to look at a 911 amongst all of the hideous bloated, over styled car designs of today.

And BTW, you have to see the front from the right angle. This one.

Here is my quick render of Porsche 991 Carrera with 997.2 Carrera Turbo wheels.

Don't agree. 997.2 front intake area is too weak, narrow to say and they addressed it with 991. Also, FL rear lights are a bit tacky.
991 is just better in every aspect. Finally they nailed it in every way. And what's more - everybody around me (non Porsche fanatics like us) seem to agree with that...

Like I said, the 991 has certain parts that are just plain 10x better than on the 997, but I'm still not sold on the rear of the 991. As some one has said, the rear is too "in the moment". But I agree with you on the front end. The 991 has a far better looking front end than the 997. The wider track, and the lights pushed out to the side look awesome! The new intakes look a lot better too.

I guess I will just need to see the 991'a rear in person to make final judgment, because in some pictures the rear looks amazing, but in others its very repulsive.

Believe me, after you've seen it in person you would drool over it.
The back stirred so much more attention during last motor show in Dubai and it seemed that no one really cared about the front...
I agree to extent that in photos don't look as well as in real life.

I think I figured out why the 991 isn't catching my interest as much as others: it's too "elegant". The entire car is smoothed out, softer looking. While the performance is undoubtedly better, it just has a look of elegance as opposed to purposeful sportiness. I'm sure the GT versions, and maybe the Turbo, will change some of that, but I just don't get the same sporty vibe when I look at the 991 as I do when looking at a 997, 993, or 930.

carrera, is it any trouble to put the solid black wheels on the agate grey car on page 38? , different angle, hope it looks as good as on page 36,makes the car a little tougher, as other members have mentioned its a little to pretty. thanks again

I agree with you. You will find some more photos from Dubai Fair from rear and front. 991 is a way forward for sure. But it does not mean 997 was not O.K. It is/was also a perfect design.
