Estimate price drop for 997 when 991 releases?

given how a 996 could be brought for around 40-50 grand, how much of a price difference would a 997 be once the 991 releases? i know it's impossible to accurately assume, any speculation within reason would be helpful.

They should plummet dramatically in the months right after the release.

I imagine it would be the perfect time to pick up something like a 996 GT2/3.

997s can be had now for $50K. Not a big deal. They certainly won't plummet like 996s... If a 996 bottoms out around $20K, then a 997 won't go lower than $30K. I suspect there'll be a bunch of nice 997s (for driving, not collecting) in the $40K range for a long time.

thanks for sharing. i'm currently looking at cpo 997.2 S cabriolet models with pdk and was wondering how much would the price drop when 991 comes out. right now the dealership near me has one for 80k for a 2009 pdk model, with 10k miles on it. a little too much for my liking so i'm hoping that would change with the time.

All of these "regular" Porsches drop like rocks (trust me, I've suffered it). If you wait another 6-12 mos, that car will be in the low $70K range. To get it into the $50K range, you'll have to wait another couple of years.
