Why would you expect a refined GT3 ? Just because there's also a "GT" in the name ? The GT3 is from another planet, a purists car,
whereas the GTS is just one of many 997 "special" editions. It's a Porsche Carrera GTS, not a Porsche GTS. Huge difference !

 

I'm sure it's a great car, just not on the level of a GT3.

 

I'm thinking people usually go GTS to GT3, and you did it the other way around, and miss the power. Remember, the GT3 was born on the track, the GTS was born on an options list. It's still an awesome looking and sounding car though. Good luck with the GTS.

I think the only mistake was PDK. I saw a GTS yesterday that was gorgeous. RWD, wide body, rear seat delete, etc. - so great. I will tell you this - give it some time to break in, then take that thing in sport plus mode to your favorite driving area and go for it. Your opinion will change. I've got a C4S with "only" 385hp and it is a very fast car. With 408hp, it's got to be phenomenal, plus it's got individual throttle butterflies and intake runners, so it'll sound and rev amazingly. I want a GT3, but only because I don't care about fripperies like full leather, Bose, calm suspension, etc. Give it a little more time - I think you'll like it. If not, then you'll know for certain that only GT cars work for you.

yes i am from jhb ... most probably was me ... omw to "Race!" ... ...

i drove the GTS again today, and im just being harsh (esp after so little kms) ... put a bit more kms on it ... it felt a lot more quicker ... and responsive ... i think once it is driven in i would like it ...

 

Read what I wrote above, Adam. Trust me, the 9A1 engines are potent.

 

The car you have is as quick as a GT3, and as much fun... In fact many will consider it to be the ultimate compromise between a Carrera S and a GT3

 

Unfortunately you went into this with unrealistic expectations INMO. If you got a manual GTS maybe you can look at it this way but not the PDK.

The GTS to me in PDK format is the best naturally aspirated daily driver you can buy out there now if you live in a climate that doesn't require AWD or 4WD, but it's no GT3 and shouldn't be compared to one.
