I tried to end this thread in the 2nd post, alas....

Next we'll hear that Corvettes will ditch the leaf spring and make a nice interior. I hear it's starting to get breezy and cool in Hell.

Every once and a while some newb comes on a car forum and proclaims that the 911 needs an eight cylinder engine and then proceeds to get slammed by the regulars who actually know something about cars and Porsches in particular. Today was that day again.

Okay, I'll bite.

You're basing this thread on what, exactly?

And to play devils advocate; in one of the spy vid's (winter testing I believe) there are 2 911's. Clearly, not 997's. While they pull away out of the gas station both cars makes some, unusual sounds.

Could be (and more likely) that the exhaust system were modified to hide or conceal that typical Flat-6 Sound. I dont know. But it didn't sound like your typical 911, thats for sure.

YouTube - Next generation Porsche 911 spied

I think this sounds like a typical 911. It has that sort of 911 "hissing" sound.

Here is a newer video, and still, sounds the same.

It doesn't matter if you drive a 911 GT1. You still don't know if the F8 is coming. The only way to know is if you work at Porsche, and help develop the 911. An F8 is not coming.

If you think you're speculation is supported by the wider and bigger car, but that' for more room in the interior, not an F8. Maybe we'll see a 4.0? I heard they will still use the 3.6/3.8 engines, and that's from autocar, and they have very good relations with Porsche, but never mentioned an 8 cylinder. I'm guessing that they will update the 3.6 to 360hp, and the 3.8 to 400hp. You never know though.
