This thread just got

Porsche always has something up their sleeves. Considering they are starting to look into and use hybrid technology, I'm sure we shall see it trickle down into the 911 range. That may be the future where the extra HP comes from IF they max out the F6.

Look at the GT3 hybrid cup car. They got some amazing performance and MPG's out of that thing. Once they perfect it.....watch out.

never going to happen

First, the car would have to be wider than a house to fit that engine, second, it's not Porsche at all, third, it's too heavy and not economical at all, fourth, it doesn't sound as good (a big thing at Porsche), and last, why would you even think of something like an F8 in a Porsche!? A PORSCHE!?

Sorry, I get really worked up about things like this

They already are making KERS standard on all 2011 V8 Panamera models come August this year. It's not really a "hybrid" as it is improving efficiency.

I am aware of that, I was talking about 911's. I am interested to see how well it will work out.

And tell RUF that the V8 is too heavy for the 911. All the news i read said that their V8 was lighter than the F6....Though i am strongly against any form of an 8 cylinder being on a 911.

Does anyone remember the tuner that put a turbo V8 in the front of a 911?

I mentioned that to show how close this regeneration thing already was for Porsche road cars.

Yes, there V8 was lighter than the flat-6, but tell them to custom build a flat 6 then look at the results.
