Lightbulb A black 2005 Carrera rolls into SharkWerks...

This black 2005 997 Carrera originally came into us for an exhaust upgrade in the form of the fantastic-sounding Tubi as well as a couple of subtle TechArt Type 1 aero parts including their roof wing spoiler (in carbon fiber) and the Type 1 wing.

There she is awaiting surgery:

The Tubi exhaust saves about 30 pounds of weight off the back but what's really impressive is the sound. Nothing else sounds quite like it!

The TechArt Type 1 wing is painted black to match and shown here installed with the decklid in its raised position:

The TechArt roof wing is a nice touch and especially in carbon fiber on a black car:

Here's the rear end TechArt treatment:

And now ready to go home after a few hours of surgery...

A second appointment was scheduled for another round of upgrades. This time the car was to be fitted with TechArt LED daytime running lights, TechArt Side Skirts, TechArt Front Lip Spoiler, TechArt carbon mirror inserts, James' custom front bumper radiator screens, EVO's V-flow intake, and the SharkWerks Lightweight Flywheel kit (one of our favorite modifications for these cars).

The owner also surprised us with a set of wheels he had added since his last visit.

The first step was to attach the side skirts and mirror inserts, as they would need to dry overnight.

Then James has to remove the front bumper cover for the major surgery.

The LED light modules from TechArt's DRL kit are installed in the front bumper cover:

Along with the wiring in order to make it function with factory ignition / key-on:

Using hand tools and bulk wire mesh, he then fabricated some protective screens to keep leaves and other debris from getting stuck in the bumper cover sides:

The bumper is re-installed along with the TechArt front lip:

The DRLs are subtle from the front, but when looking straight on (ie in your rear view mirror or coming at it head-on) they are very bright.

Here's a video showing the DRL kit installed on a 997TT to give you an idea of the brightness:

The EVO V-flow was added for more power (and also to complement the exotic Tubi sound):

The SharkWerks lightweight flywheel was also added for quicker revs and better acceleration. Here's a video showing the LWF kit's features:

Ready for pickup, almost...
