Tell me about it when I studied in DC I didn't have front plates and I had illegal tint it wasn't worth it

DJ - I love the avatar - if you get around to an "enhanced" one, I'll love it too!
I got the tint I did (35% back glass, 50% side glass, 15% windshield header) to keep it legal in VA. I'm already rolling with no front plate, and for those of you who don't know, VA police (and Fairfax County in particular) can be mind-numbing pricks.
My wife's A3 is FWD (she won't let me trade it in for a Quattro yet). It does just fine in the snow. It used to be my DD when I had my Carrera S.
