GS997S is an unknown quantity at this point
I have never had to add any to my 07 997S. It has about 15,000 miles on it and I change the oil about every 7,500 miles, and have never had to add any oil between changes.

The real question is, how many cupcakes do you go through in a week?

+1 To all those who say it's normal. My '07 did the same thing for the first 1500- 2000 miles. I was topping it off every few hundred miles. Maybe 2 quarts total during that time period, then it settled down. Mileage is 3,600 now and doesn't use much more than my Boxster did, maybe 1/2 per 1K miles or less. Normal for a flat 6 engine.

Yeah, bad engine design that's been around since the '60s and won Le Mans more than any other car manufacturer.

The owner's manual in the earlier air-cooled cars says 1 qt per 500 miles is normal, and that's after it's broken in. The main reason for this is that b/c the motor is horizontally opposed, you will always have some oil that's sitting in the cylinder after the car is shut-off. Once you fire it back up, the rings will scrape that oil and some of it will get pumped up and out of the combustion chamber.

I wouldn't sweat it. The consumption will go down, but it will always burn a little bit. It's normal.
