991 Turbo? No! RUF Rt35 Testdrive.

I think he said 630PS but if it is normal Ruf quotes then it may well be approaching 650PS....
Could you share the number your Porsche contact told you ? I know Schmirler broke his test 9A1 motor at around 550PS but knowing him that means 550PS at 4000rpm held on the brake so 980NM which would be a test for a Mezger turbo
But still a good tuner like Ruf would normally like to extend the rev range a little, he was always very proud to encourage test drivers to hold onto the revs to 7000 in all his turbo creations, I bet he is a little frustrated with this fragility

Hi TB993,
What I heard it was close to 600..then seriuos redesign would be necessary..but this was when the 997 turbo S came out..so things may have changed a bit
Regarding the 6400rpm: yes its low..its even lower than 997 GT2...so your are right..if RUF sets this limit - then..it must mean something.
Nevertheless, its the first and probably the only 991 I would like to own..

No doubt he has put rods into the 9A1 but as I understand it it is movement which it suffers from ?

Well if you upgrade the crank, rods and pistons, then the movement of which you speak would be the cylinder walls flexing, or the head moving with respect to the block, or the crank journals shifting. I believe tha with enough work these problems can be accounted for or worked around. I can't believe Porsche would make a block so flimsy that a Hyundai Genesis turbo could hold the same power more reliably . . .
