997 TT Techart upgrades @ Unlimited Autosport

Here is a 2007 997TT cabrio that came in for some upgrades. The customer wanted more power, different wheels and a thicker steering wheel. For the steering we went with a Techart Type 1 wheel with perforated leather and piano black lacquer on the upper rim.

For the wheels we went with Techart Formula III forged wheels. They measure 20" x 8.5" in the front and 20" x 12" in the rear. We had the wheels custom painted 2-tone. The inner part of the wheel was painted in a semi-gloss black and the outer face was painted in phantom grey. We wrapped those wheels in Michelin PS2 tires.

Next up is the power modifications. We went with some more Techart parts. First up was the Power Kit 1 which includes an ECU tune, BMC air filter and tubular headers. We also added the Techart Sport Exhaust with sport catalysts and their polished oval tips. We then added an IPD intake plenum along with EVO billet diverter valves and TPC 5" Blitzkrieg intercoolers to finish off the package to allow room for further upgrades. Here are some pictures of the install, Enjoy

That's a really good look, and I don't usually like dark wheels. They're designed nicely.

Aren't those wheels a bit heavy?

The wheels are actually lighter then the stock 997 turbo wheels. The fronts are about 2 lbs. lighter and the rears are about .5 lb. lighter. The customer wasn't going for weight reduction, he just loved the way they looked.

These are the "new" wheels, which are lighter than the original Techart wheels

By original I mean the first design

I had a set of the original wheels once.... once. They were insanely heavy.
