not sure if this is how porsches run but my low engine oil warning came on... called the dealer and they said all porsches do and that i should simply add oil.

is this true?

i find it odd as the car was fully serviced 2000 miles ago.

i go through a quart every 1000 miles; more if i'm driving like a maniac.

perfectly normal - car eats more oil than gas. (and my engine has been rebuilt so nothing wrong w/ it)

- chuck

i had a similar experience after my last full service. I added another quart and it was fine. I don't keep track of the mileage in terms of when I need to add oil, but notice it happens more often with more spirited driving.

I keep a quart in the car in case of emergency. The local BMW dealership sells a cool oil container for $5...essentially a vynil pouch for 1qt of oil. It has velcro on the back which keeps it from slipping, and a few paper cones.
