Exhaust note on a 997.2TT vs 997.2TTS
Is the stock exhaust on a 997.2 TTS much different sounding than the 997.2TT or are they pretty similar meaning it also has to be upgraded to get the more exotic, more aggressive note ?

There's a definite difference between the exhaust note of a 997.2 TTS or TT versus a 997.1 TT.
But, I think there is only a small difference between the 997.2 TTS and TT, although I have had only limited seat time in the TT. The "burble" on the TTS is a bit more pronounced IMHO.

There seems to be a lot more noise from the airbox on my S, could this be to do with the carbon airbox.
The normal TT i drove, didn't sound as loud or aggressive.
pretty sure the actual exhausts themselves are the same though.

Agree, the exhaust note should be the same... It picks up the extra ponies by pumping the boost from 11.6 psi in the base Turbo to 14.5 psi in the Turbo S.

Actually I have heard both cars at the same day stomping on the throttle..
and as I`m driving a convertible I got to hear a differnce
the jet like hiss on the TTS is very(!) loud when next to it,but the TTS does of course not produce the typical NA 911 roar
So concerning the OPs question, yes if you want it dirty and NA like you should get an aftermarket exhaust
but imo the TTS sounds very very cool...
it`s civil at idle and low revs, but gives you a badass turbo sound at WOT

I love the "burble" of the S - its sounds MUCH different than any other Porsche I have owned.
My buddy is picking up his 2011 Turbo this week. I will do some investigating.
lastly - I asked my dealer and he said, he hasnt heard the burble on regular turbo's ever.
I find the exhaust to be rather pleasing on the Turbo S. Although, I wish on start up it was a bit louder.
I've been driving the car for 4 days straight - i'm loving it.

Yes, there's a lovely burble on the over run..
Anyone noticed the noise from the dump valve yet too ?, just come back from a weeks driving in the Alps, and my wife though there was a dog barking at us
. Happens when you spool the turbos up, but quickly lift off, a lot of young lads pay a lot of money to make there cars make that sound over here
