When does it stop making sense? Mods

So Im looking for suggestions as to what works, and what doesnt when it comes to modding my new to me 08 997 TT TIP...

Also, Id like to know when does the return on the dollar really start to drop off... What I mean by that.. lets say exhaust, ecu, intake at a cost of lets say 6K gets you 100rwhp... Now you go further with lets say headers, intercoolers for another 7-8k...but you only get say 30hp... Does that leave people dissapointed? After the fact have you thought to yourself if you had to do it over, youd of quit while you were ahead?

Another example I read that someone with a tip, with just softronic, and intake...recorded a 3.0 sec 0-60 and 0-100 in 6.8. Im seeing people with much more than that not being able to get near those numbers.

I also want to keep my car completely driveable, quiet and reliable. not looking to make it superfast as I have the Gallardo for that.

Thanks in advance for any input!

It makes sense all the way up to when the car starts poisoning you and your dear friends with gasoline fumes constantly.

you've modded cars before so you should know your point of diminishing returns. the better tuners (or, at least, EVOMS) can adjust timing/etc for gasoline w/o switches or this & that.

if you want to save $$, you can probably get used ICs somewhere down the line - given the relative heat down there, they should be helpful, not for peak HP, but for sustained HP over a few runs/long drives.

no real need for headers (experts - correct me if i'm wrong) if you just intend to do a flash.

Checkout Switzer, they make nice packages.

Just send it to EVOMS or Switzer and tell them to tinker with it until your bank account can't handle the abuse anymore. Then you should be all set.

Not that I have any experience, but I think it stops making sense after you stop feeling the performance increase. Personally though, I don't understand why people want a 1,000hp 911 Turbo. I thought it was enough from factory, maybe exhaust, ecu, headers, and a new intake, maybe even updated turbos, but I think it stops making sense right around there.

Not only do I not understand why, I don't understand how.

How does Switzer get 1,000hp out of an engine smaller than 2 bottles of coke??

It's not all about horsepower, it's also about weight. The Turbo is a very stable chassis though.

I agree I think 700hp is too much, maybe around the 500-650hp range is nice.

I'm with some of the above. In a sub 3500lb car, 600hp is enough.

If you talk with the guys(racecar drivers) who can feel the slightest of changes I'm pretty sure most will say save your money for tires and brakes and take it to the track as often as possible. I agree that taking your car to the track is without a doubt the best way to enjoy your car when you're concerned about diminishing returns.

Then again I would 100% get an tuning company to do some "stage 1"(exhaust, intake, dyno tune) at the very least after a few sessions too.
