997tt Pdk

I have followed the tuners of 997TT's with amazement and now that the TT has direct injection and a PDK tranny - how is this going affect things going forward?

Is the PDK tranny up to a 700-800hp conversion? Will the direct injection setup help or hamper further development?

Rgds Steve (newbie)

It's mostly unknown at this point. Many skeptics (informed or not) say it's NOT promising for big power.

But, I think you can get to 600+ easily and reliable. A Turbo S/GT2 model will have 550+, so I doubt a simple exhaust, BMC, flash, etc will cause problems at the 600+ level.
And it's already so fast for 500hp.

Thanks for the welcome!!!

Hi MeanMachine Yup thats right.. I got the E55 up to 613 HP/930Nm with still cams and water injection to come, so pretty happy. However its is still a sedan ... I am after a good w/e sportscar. I have always been a P-car nut (although never owned one) ... so keeping an eye open on whats going on .... 997TT + SPI or EVOMS or Protomotive or whatever = my dream car.... all I know its wont be stock!

Yes the PDK is a bit of a stumbling block - but they will beef it up over time I am sure. Interesting how well the Tips are holding up. Is it true they share the same transmission as the big engined AMG's?

I believe the max torque for the PDK box is 780Nm from what I have heard. That's about a typical 530BHP stage II tune.

If Porsche can make 550BHP+ with the new engine (I assume for the Turbo S and the new GT2 Porsche will upgrade some internal engine components to handle the extra power, making them effectively different engines to the Turbo) then they will still keep the torque under 780Nm so as not to kill the PDK box.

I am sure tuners will eventually find a way to get big power out of the new engines , although I would say that it will cost you twice as much as modifying the old M64 engine as that already came with internally strengthened components out of the box and you could just plug and play!
