Thanks Art. We did a test 3.8L setup on my 997TT a year and a half ago. We never really ran the car outside of our tests because we pulled the engine apart to the design and wear. We have done a dozen or so 996TT's with this conversion but made some piston changes for the 997TT.

We have done our twin Bosch 044 in tank fuel pumps designed specifically for the 997TT fuel tank. We are running larger fuel lines from the pumps to the fuel rails. 83 lb injectors, our CNC ported heads with larger valves, camshafts, 12mm head studs, V-band TiAL GT35/82 HTA turbos, etc

 

Thanks for the write up Todd for taking your time and answering the questions Insane work and set up I must say. Sounds like mini "Bad Influence" build I'm really interested in hearing the results such as 60-130, 1/4 mile trap, and of course One mile run. Do you think this motor will put out more HP when compared to a 996tt engine with the same specs? I know that 997tt motors breath and flow better than 996tt's.

 

Way to go man... nothing pleases me more than that first start right after an intense build like that!

 

We have been breaking the engine in and made a few lower boost, low RPM power pulls this evening. The power results are more than expected and this engine is going to be stout. Here are the numbers from tonight's engine break in power tests.

Rev limit: 6300 RPM
Max Boost: 22.5 PSI
Low Timing

AWHP: 792 @ ~6000 RPMS
AWTQ: 765 @ ~4900 RPMS

This engine is going to have a very broad power / tq curve even with the GT35 turbos. The combination of the cams, heads, valves, were all developed together to work with the 3.8L and the rest of the turbo system. We will be doing some more testing throughout the weekend before we unleash the beast on the road and the track next week.

Todd , this car will be sick 792 AWHP with low boost , i cant wait till tomorrow to know the numbers once you raise the boost and play with the timing and air fuel ratio
this is your second pass on the dyno and from what you told me there is more to come , i just want to say WELL DONE as usual
hopefully you could take the car to strip and get some nice 1/4 mile numbers
