Question Running 2010 Turbo with DFI on 95 RON instead of 98 RON Pump gas....

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to get some feedback from people on TS about running The 2010 Turbo on 95RON as the PUMP GAS in BAHRAIN is 95. Like UAE, KUWAIT, QATAR we do not have 98 available on PUMP.

Maybe mixing Race gas with 95 will achieve 98 or near good enough?

Pros and Cons?

Oh Grey TT what are you using? MUMTAZ or VP?

98 RON = 93 AKI

In California we only get 91 AKI, which is 95 RON. So we're in the same situation. Porsche sells a TON of cars here and they run fine (they're designed to run down to 90 octane AKI). We can get 100 from the pump at 76 stations; I mix a 4 gallons in my Cayman to bring the octane up to 93 when I'm running hard and there is a noticeable jump in power.

You won't damage it on 95, but you will get more power on 98.

As mentioned, you won't damage the engine, but you will lose some power, particularly with the heat. Adding in some race gas will definitely help. If you're running any extra boost, I'd upgrade that statement from 'desirable' to 'essential'.

C16 is leaded; don't run that, you'll clog the cats. Run unleaded. I run about 1/4th 100 to bring it up to 93.

My understanding is Gulf Spec Porsches can run fine on lower octane...
I think they FINALLY have 98 in Saudi (ironic given it is the largest producer of crude in the world)

No 98 in KSA as far as i know. They got the same on pump as Bahrain 95 RON. Bahrain has 98 RON but only for export.

Get 103 or 109 from the VP range. Forget about the C14, C16, C23. They are leaded and you dont need that. VP103 and 109 are unleaded and are great ...
