We use the correct octane with the correct boost, also having a good tune helps.

What Paulie said.
Your friend was likely running too much boost with bad gas with an agressive tune.
The stock injectors on a car upgraded turbos likely helped as well.
That's a recipe for exactly what you posted in your pic.

Probably detonation on a stock fuel system and/or pump fuel. 580 PS (if WHP) is way too much hp to be supported by stock injectors, imo.

everybody in Europe with Porsche run on 98RON, so lets forget about gas.
Stock injectors and some other thing hold the power and toque, so where is the mistake? The car was programed by one of the free lancer guys working for some tuners and data's was analyzed and recorded many times, max boost was 1,3 bar.

Not meaning to be argumentative but, as I understand 98 RON = roughly 93 RM+2 (US) which is pump fuel in the US. I would never run 1.3 bar on pump fuel especially with moded turbos and stock injectors. I think we have an explanation for what happened.

anything can happen on the street. my car, when it was running 600 (crank) hp, bent and twisted 2-3 rods while running 100 octane. bad batch of gas? too much boost? this? that? we'll never know - but it's part of the (modifying) game.

the silver lining is that he can now upgrade the internals and not worry as much.

What ECU tune? 1.3 is a little high.
