I have set of steel brakes 380mm with 8 pistons calipers still in the box but I didn't decide to use it, maybe I should go for ceramics?

I heard that there was many problems with ceramics on the race tracks, with 997 brakes is the same story?

 

Ceramics are great. The main issue is the cost. $8k when you order the car, almost twice that installed at the dealer. If you damage a rotor or crack one at the track, you'll be in for a hefty repair bill. Also makes carrying spare parts a very costly proposition.

 

but why should I change the rotor or rotors? Is there something wrong with it?

 

The rotor is unique and part of the Carbon Ceramic Rotor/Caliper Combo.

 

Ceramics are awesome. The ones on / for the 997 are 2nd generation, which have not experienced the problems the first-gen ceramics on the 996 had. They are virtually idiot and bomb proof. No fade, no brake dust, last almost forever. I would never order another Porsche without them. Although there are plenty of guys who say they prefer after-market brakes, I have never heard anyone who actually owned a set of the later-gen ceramics say anything but that they loved them.
