Audi Getting Closer to Decision on Carbon-Ceramic Brakes for the U.S.

Audi is still looking into offering carbon-ceramic brakes on U.S.-market cars, and the prospects look good. Currently, the extra-cost discs are available elsewhere on the R8, as well as on the not-for-our-shores RS6. We’re told to expect the grabbier brakes as soon as the 2011 model year, and our guess is that the R8 will be the first model to benefit. The RS5, which we’ve just sampled, gets optional carbon-ceramics, but only up front. The car has been confirmed for U.S. sale, and should arrive here by the end of 2012—with or without the brakes as an option.

We’ve also learned that the TT RS should eventually arrive here, equipped with the six-speed manual, hopefully before the RS5 lands.

 

RS5 late 2012? Uhmm, excuse me?

 

It will be here sooner-there is no way they can wait that long. The cars always arrive here ahead of scheduled release anyway...

 

RS 5 is now up on the German car configurator.

LOL - I'm just busting balls... I PRAY it's better in person. You know I was right there on board with you excited about this car. I'll build one and see if I can export the pic.

 

here is my liver wuarst grey sports coupe in front of a grey back ground ... FTW ... it doesn't get much better ... I am hooked ....

 

I wish they would have gone with the rounded RS4 style flares, instead of the squared RS6(ish) accents.

 

That pic does show off the body MUCH more than any other I've seen... I'm a little happier now. One reason I bought my RS4 in Avus Silver was because it really showed off the curves and vents and stuff. BTW, when I built mine (Daytonagrau), it was almost 100K Euros!!!

If you hear from your dealer that they'll have one, PLEASE let me know. You might convince me after all...
