I've read from previous post on the 6 that the headers really do help on modified cars with the top end, that being the 997tt.

Neenja, what kind are those?
I think aftermarket headers offer a slight gain(<10HP) on a flashed car, I have FS, they seem good.

there evoms I bought them half price by some guy on 6speed. I'm going evoms ECU,stage 2 clutch, bbi pulley/aluminum flywheel soon, so I figure headers would complete the package.

Not completely convinced on the plenum thus far...inless someone gots that for half price as well!

I was running with those made by German small company, 20 sets per year for one tuning company. I never have seen better quality, did I noticed the gain on the dyno? don't think so. Maybe performance headers are better for cool down the egt, they hanging lover then stock ones.
BTW tuning companies like to sell them because they earn a lot.

Lots of headers are pure crap. There are some good ones out there though that are an improvement over stock. The AWE headers are 321ss, they use a real merge collector which reduces turbulence and increases flow, the tubing is equal length, and there are no restrictions from welding flash inside the tubing. The stock ones are missing those attributes. The main goal of a header on a turbo car is to make the maximum flow velocity with the least amount of back pressure/restriction. If you use too large a tubing diameter, the flow is slower. If you use too small a diameter, the resistance and back pressure is higher. That is why bigger is not always better.
