Looking for inexpensive way to haul my 997 turbo around to far away tracks
I wanted to haul my turbo around and was wonderig a cheap solution to do this. I am looking for a daily driver truck/suv that hopefully wont eat alot of gas cause I do TOONS of driving and still and be able to have enough power to tow my turbo around to tracks located far away.
Also any sugestions for those trailors(not sure of the anme of them) which i can pull my turbo in and then hook it up to my truck to tow around.
I am looking at a budget set up for TRUCK/SUV and trailor thingie.

I too was in the same boat many years ago when I needed to haul my Twin Turbo S4 around to shows etc... I had a 94 4.3 Blazer and a open dual axle and barely got by. When I upgraded trucks I got into a 99 GMC Sierra 5.3 Ext. Cab. She did very well until I put 8" of lift and 35" BFG's on which made hauling a bit hairy till I got used to it. I would try and find at least a 1500 size pickup but if you can find a low mileage deisel, that would be your best option for towing.
Our shop 06 F350 Turbo Diesel hauls our single enclosed trailer with absolutely no problem, in fact, we just hauled one of our GT3 guys to Sebring and left him there...LOL Of course we didn't leave him there, he has a house down there for the winter...

Not sure how low "budget" really is, and how much comfort you're ready to give up ...
Cheapest solution I think would be a diesel Excursion (with a solid preference for the old 7.3, with a bulletproof transmission upgrade), they start around 15k. Add an open trailer to that, and you're set. Under 20k total.
Of course, a 3500 dually and enclosed trailer is lots of fun ... but a fair bit more $$$.

Proof that what we call "minimum" is actually overkill ... or maybe not! LOL
I towed a 3800lbs car on a single axle open trailer with a Jeep Liberty ... and it wasn't fun at all. I did not dare go over 50mph as it would start swaying. Good thing it was only for a 20mi round trip.
