Pre Purchase Inspection. It'll cost you $300 +/- and do it at a dealership or mechanic other than the one you're buying it from. They will take a look at the car and tell you if there are any issues. Also you can give you a "rev/rpm" report (can't remember the official name) but it'll tell you if the car has been abused or redlined often. I would NEVER buy a pre-owned car without a PPI.

The only downside in my opinion is the rough everyday ride. I personally wouldn't give a shit, since it wouldn't be a daily driver.

I'd also get a PPI as mentioned. If you're buying it from a Porsche dealer, get it CPO'ed. Then it'll have a 6yr/100K warranty...

Thanks, guys. Sounds like overwhelming agreement that I should go with GT3RS. Any advice on pricing? How much off of asking price?

What is the asking price? I'd also do a search on Porsche.com to see what pre-owned GT3 RSes are going for around the country. http://www.porsche.com/usa/pre-owned-vehicles/search/

Thanks, Chris - makes sense. In response to your next post, asking price is $160k. Shouldn't the economy be enough reason to bring that down a bit??

Definitely. The only way I'd go over $150K is if it's got a lot of carbon, nav, etc. The average on my quick check was around $160K - mileages were all pretty low. Offer $145K and see what they say. It should definitely have bi-xenons, PCCBs, etc. What color is it?

Bi-xenons, PCCB - yes, but no nav. It's Orange....

color = Orange I think...

It's a buyer's market. Even CGT's are coming down in price. Start low and shop around, there are deals to be had. Just don't do it without a PPI even if you're not in the same city as the seller, make it happen over the phone.

No nav? Definitely offer $145K. I wouldn't go higher than $150K. Stick to your guns - you definitely have leverage in today's market.

Thanks for your advice, Chris and ATL.

So here's the piece of info I kept back deliberately in this post so as not to affect your opinions. The truth is that I recently took delivery of my 09 white TT, which I had custom ordered with all the options I wanted 3 months ago. It's loaded to the hilt with PCCBs, painted seatbacks, wrapped in leather, etc. I paid up for these customizations so would have to take a real hit.

So here's the next question: How much of a depreciation hit should I be willing to take before I walk away from the deal? My sticker was $165 but I paid $160. I've only put about 200 miles on it so far.

Any hope I could do an even trade?
