Importing a 430 from Europe
Gents,
I have a friend that has a full Novitec modded 430 sitting over in Switzerland and he is now living here in Minnesota. He has talked to several people but can't seem to find anyone who can import it for him. Apparently because it is european spec he would have to make a lot of modifications to the car to bring it to US standards and the costs are ridiculous. I know there was a lot of people importing cars like a Skyline back in the day but I'm no expert. I've heard after 15 years the cars can be brought in as collectors but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with getting around these issues and if they know of anyone that deals with importing that has had success.
Thanks for the help,
Andrew

Too much hassle to bother importing it.
Couple options.
1) Sell car in europe, buy another one in US.
2) Store it at/near an airport of a speeding friendly jurisdiction in Europe. You can store cars for like $100 a month 20min from the Nurembring. If you are bored of one area, you just store in another.
He can fly in to use it whenever on vacation, because seriously the US sucks for super-car ownership unless he likes driving 50mph/being jailed/conversing with cops or hanging around chain coffee shops admiring giant parking lots.

While I can totally agree with the points you raised you don't sound like a happy car enthusiast. Why do feel that way...if I may ask !!??

why he doesn't ship it to us and just drive it with swiss license plates on it, he just need to get international driver's license beside his swiss one, if he gets pulled by cops just show them international drivers license and thats it, and he can eventually insure car at many insurance companies
