Breaking News: Ferrari 458 GT2 looks ready to eat up the competition!!
#1

"As impressive as it may be in its own right, when Ferrari introduces a new V8 supercar, you know there's more to come. A Spider version. A Challenge racer. Probably a CS/Scuderia-style hardcore street version somewhere down the line. And yes, a GT2 racing version. That appears to be what we're looking at right here.
Once a top-tier Le Mans contender, Ferrari's sportscar racing program is largely limited these days to the GT2 category, leaving the likes of Peugeot and Audi to compete for top honors in the LMP1 category and its own sister-company Maserati to fight for GT1 victory."

Some technical details:
Power with ACO mandated restrictors is around 470hp
(That's 100 less than the 458 Italia street car and 30 less than the 4 liter engined F430 GT2)
6 speed paddle shifter
18" wheels (vs 19 on the Challenge)
Weight is, again ACO mandated minimum, 1245 kg / 2745 lbs, up 27 kg / 60 lbs from the 430

I actually posted this over in the Pit Stop but I'll ask here. Does anyone know if the Risi Comp. team or Patron team will field a pair of these for the 2011 ALMS season?
If so, everyone in GT is going to have a tough season.

This is such a bittersweet car, leaving my head in complete disarray. I hate the way the normal 458 looks, but I LOVE the way the 458 Challenge looks. But this ... looks ... horrid. Pininfarina did not design that front bumper. And what are those vents in the front hood cooling exactly?
