But seriously guys, how many threads and posts have we seen where someone speeding lost their life or took someone elses? The key part in the article says that when someone dies or is injured, it's too late. If this article talked about how 3 pedestrians were killed because of these 2 cars speeding then everyone would say how they should have their cars taken away or they should go to jail. This is to prevent that.

This law existed prior to them deciding to race. It did not stop them and it will not stop others. People have always and will always act like idiots. All it did was establish that in BC, Canada people have no actual rights to ownership of their earned property but rather said property belongs to politicians driven to create populist laws that would simply not fly elsewhere.

BTW a few things:

-It is doubtful the woman was nearly hit, most likely she got a fright and decided to get some media attention.

-It is doubtful they were actually recorded doing 120mph. given it is a winding road police radar is never accurate in such situations and was probably thrown off by the angular velocity in corners and also metallic street signs and power lines.

-The owners should invite their lawyers out on a fishing expedition, whoop their ****ing ass and dump them in the ocean with some chains around their legs, I swear for a lawyer to lose such a case they must be so ****ing incompetent they very well may have bribed their way onto the Canadian bar.

edit: I'm not condoning these speeds on a public road btw. I think high speeds belong only on the track and open empty roads but like I said these laws are ridiculous, they are totally contrary to the concept of property rights and also on the kind of road people walk along it is doubtful even a Scud would have hit those speeds, lets be realistic it is a fast car but if it is the kind of narrow road people walk along, no doubt filled with potholes, corrugations and cars/people on the side 120mph would be pretty damn hard to reach and even so a police radar is not accurate at that speed.

Show me one. The only one I can think of is the accident involving VRAlexander, and that was a sanctioned race event, albeit on public roads.

The dangers of speeding are hugely overstated because it is a massive profit center for the police department. They create a furor over the alleged dangers of "speeding", then jack up penalties and enforcement with the fines going to their own coffers. It's a self-sustaining enterprise and the blame lies squarely in the hands of the gullible public that allows it to happen.

There's speeding and then there's risking the lives of your and my family. If the limit is 60 and he does 80 give him a ticket but 120mph on a public road is plain negligence. I know it may not be the popular opinion here but if a guy does that next to my wife and kid I'd take more than his car.

I'm disgusted.

"Had one of those vehicles lost control ..."

But none of them did, did they now?

Frankly, when I'm on the road on my bike I'm not scared by people speeding, especially in nicer cars. Because odds are they are aware of what doing 100+ means. On the other hand the soccer mom who merges onto me without her flasher ... she's the one endangering others, and she's the one who will be interrupting her phone blabbering to call the cops "omg there are sportscars going soooooooooo fast that's so dangerous".

Bullshit.

Had one of those vehicles "lost control" at 80kph it would have caused plenty of grief as well, but people like to freak out about big numbers.

We can't prosecute people for crimes they could have committed. Potentially, all cars are lethal weapons driving fast or not. This is a huge stretch of govt powers that i am not comfortable with in any way. If it was me...see you in court.

It's like punishing a woman for prostitution because she has a vajayjay.*
