I agree, the options prices are getting out of hand. Porsche seems to have started this trend with their 'book of options', most of which are very pricey. I don't deny the manufactures making money, and it's nice having options, but what they want for some of them is ridiculous. Lamborghini, Ferrari...$5K - $10K for carbon trim?? I know carbon isn't exactly cheap, but geez.

Plus, as we all know, much of it is lost at resale. Sure, some options may make the car more sale-able (carbon, colored stitching/gauges, etc.) - conversely, some buyers frown upon them - but loosing $10K or $20K (or more) in options is tough to swallow. Of course, if you're going to keep the car a long time, it's not as much of a concern.

Take Porsche, for example - $900 for colored gauge faces?? Come on...it's almost a kick in the balls. Yet, many of us buy them (I have. ). If I were ordering a new Porsche, I'd probably get the PCCB's if I knew I'd get half of the option cost back at resale, but that's not the case. Remember the X-50 package for 996 Turbos...$17K! What did it add at resale? Maybe $5K initially, then it dropped to like $2K later on. Nuts.

the last picture evan has the super racing (scuderia) seats installed

That "plastic" is actually real aluminum.

I would like the option to have a "normal" steering wheel without all those fiddly buttons. Call me old-fashioned, but I'd like to have all the buttons on the dashboard.

Porsche is even worse then Ferrari or Lambo...they are profitable though & it allows you to be as individual as you can/want to afford. How many people buy a Civic, Mustang, Vette, pick-up and change wheels, exhaust, lifts etc...it's what people want.
