All these manufacturers have gone stupid with the options. Why is it you can buy a $40K Acura that is LOADED when many of the same items are options on a $200K+ car???? There is NO justification. If you want to charge for the better leather, carbon, etc., build it into the price. It is just to fleece the well-heeled buyer into giving up more cash. I love my Porsche, but damn the options are silly.

great find....love the new seats...

I agree with you on option prices Chris....it's just a way for the manufacturer to soak up a little surplus revenue...to be honest, it's a good business practice for them - I don't blame them, but obviously it sucks to be on our side of the deal.

Yeah, I understand why they do it... it just blows. I shouldn't have to add $20K+ in options to my $100K+ sticker for things like the top-line stereo, nav, or Bluetooth.

I agree 100%, I am sure at the price they sell those cars at they can include those things. However, I could see them saying, "well not everyone wants this option [stereo, nav, etc], so we don't force them to pay for it, only the people who want it should pay for it." So for the people who just want a 911S and don't care if it has nav are happy, but the people who want it think it should be included. There is no right answer, because if you didn't want that, then you would feel that you are paying for stuff you don't need.

Those new seats are awesome but I bet they'll cost $6-8K at least. Yikes! The CF console and drivers area are both pretty cool options though.

Keep this in mind Chris; that $40k car NEEDS to do it in order to compete. On a $200k car you're making your car MORE unique. So you pay a premium.

It's like an Acura versus BMW or Benz. End of the day there is MORE engineering that goes into the actual car then all the bells and whistles. If it was car versus car; the Germans would win hands down all the time. So the Japanese need to toss in all sorts of stuff to make it 'comparable'.
