Hello All! I am a newbie here, just wanted to say I love the site and the threads I have read so far are very helpful and hope to contribute more to the forum in the future.

I have a question, I have a 2007 f430 coupe and have noticed that the car sits a liitle too high for my liking. It seems like the car would be more at home an inch or so lower than stock. I have seen f430s that have been lowered and they look perfect. Is it just my eyes or am I making any sense? I don't think it would hurt clearance that much if it was an inch lower would it??
Any help or advice on this matter is greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

I think the F430 looks great lowered.

 

I have a 2005 F430 and had it lowered a few years ago. It is important that you do not lower it too much since it will impact the down force aero dynamics of the car if it is to low. I lowered mine 3/4 in the rear and 5/8 in the front. (this is considerred European spec'd) I live in the bay area and had it done by an alignment specialist that does alot of set-ups for track cars as well as lower street cars does and four corner balancing. I would highly recommend you get the four corner balancing when you lower the car. It is a must do on the F430s since they do come to NA a little high to met DOT reguirements. GL

smokinghot4cars: Thanks for the info, greatly appreciated. When you were talking about the ride height you said that what you had lowered it to, was considered European spec. I'm guessing my car is a middle east spec one being as I'm from Bahrain and I totally agree with the balancing and aerodynamics, as the last thing I would want to do is compromise the great stock setup from Ferrari themselves. I hope that the dealership over here can help me out with that because we don't really have great suspension specialists that I would trust to tinker around with my pride and joy.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is the f430 stock suspension adjustable?? Or did you have to buy aftermarket lowering springs or something??

The car has adjustable spring perches from the factory. It is not necessary to purchase lowering springs.

A Ferrari factory-trained / certified technician should be able to properly lower the car, so go to the dealer and investigate a little bit. He may even have the knowledge to properly corner-balance the car if they have the necessary tools (they're just 4 small scales).

I would have any shop with a knowledgeable technician lower the car and then have it aligned to ensure that everything is properly in order and you dont have any problems...

Thanks! I'm going to see the dealer in a couple of days to see if they can handle it and hopefully will get it done over there! Unfortunately where I am there aren't any suspension specialists that I know of to be able to handle this. I would feel much more safe getting it lowered at the dealership, but thanks for the advice and will let you know the results.
