Not true; carbon ceramic brakes don't need to heat up to perform well. You can get braking performance out of cold carbon ceramics that's superior to hot steel brakes. Also, after a while, steel brakes will fade; carbon ceramics don't fade like steel brakes.

Perhaps they wouldn't have come in handy in the situation with the kid in the street, that comment was tongue in cheek; but ceramics aren't just marginally better than steel, they're an evolution.

 

Does anyone actually believe for a second that the driver made a conscious decision to not hit the kid? If it had been a deer, would he not have tried to avoid a collision?

Yea, i shouldve been clearer. After steel reaches a certain temperature, ceramic will out perform them. and yes, steels fade unlike ceramics.

He did the right thing doing whatever to avoid the kid. The lake thing was most likely and SOB moment for the driver. In Texas this time a year that should dry out in a couple of days.
