Audi A7 - 2019 World Luxury Car

A7’s World Car Awards win is the 10th overall for Audi, the second win in the category following the A8 in 2018.

Every year around this time (a.k.a., the New York International Auto Show), select jurors choose their top favorites to take home the coveted trophies awarded in the annual World Car Awards, the top prize being, of course, World Car of the Year.

Audi is no stranger to this affair, having snagged nine awards since 2005, when its A6 took home the World Car of the Year title. This year, the A7 gives Audi its 10th overall win, this time in the 2019 World Luxury Car category.

“It is a great honor for Audi to win the ‘World Luxury Car’ award twice in a row,†says Audi AG Technical Development board member Hans-Joachim Rothenpieler. “We are very proud of this award because it shows Audi’s ability to develop leading premium cars in various segments.â€

Audi’s first World Luxury Car title, of course, was given to the A8 in 2018. Meanwhile, the R8 took home both the 2008 World Performance Car and World Car Design of the Year titles, as well as World Performance Car in 2010 for the V10 version, and in 2016. The RS 4 and TT pulled off the same double-shot in 2007, and the A3 was chosen as the World Car of the Year in 2013. Finally, the A7 beat out the Q8 and BMW 8 Series for this year’s win.
